Colombia takes Paris

On the evening of July 10th, guests fluttered in to the Colette boutique on rue de Saint Honoré they were instantly transported to Cartagena, Colombia. The iconic Colette windows were replaced with a Colombian tiendita. The boutique was filled with Colombian craft cocktails, candy, and music galore. The bold geometric Mola Sasa clutches were placed on display next to other Colombian limited edition merchandise. J-Balvin was bumping his beats throughout the party decked out in Esteban Cortazar apparel. Esteban Cortazar was chosen to partner with Colette on this pop-up shop as part of a greater effort to strengthen Paris’ connection to foreign nations.

In addition to Cortazar’s own collection, he hand selected apparel and accessories from other notable Colombian designers such as Loopzu, Paula Mendoza, Nancy Gonzalez, Casa Chiqui, Mercedes Salazar, Magnetic Midnight, and Mola Sasa. The New York Times mentions in their piece on the collaboration that Esteban Cortazar wanted to display the new found success and peaceful change that is happening in Colombia through the collaboration. Similarly to the Mola Sasa mission, Esteban Cortazar seeks to preserve and encourage artisanal traditions by empowering Colombian artisans.

Later that night, the after-party took place at the Jardins de Pont Neuf right along the Seine. The dress code was “Latin Heat” and guests did not fail to follow suit. Stunning bold colors and rich fabrics surrounded the room. The designers and guests celebrated the success of the pop-up till late in the evening.
