“In fashion, luxury and ethics don’t always collide.” Says Monica Mendel, writer for Travel + Leisure. In her article titled Today in lust-worthy travel finds: Maiyet x Mola Sasa clutch Mendel highlights the unique partnership between Mola Sasa and Maiyet, a modern, ethical and luxury fashion brand that partners with global artisans to develop unique handcrafted products. As it has always been our mission to preserve and encourage the traditions of local artisans we work with in Colombia, we wanted to partner with Maiyet to present a limited edition collection of clutches and bangles highlighting both of our strengths. Maiyet curated a unique set of globally-sourced Varanasi silks for Mola Sasa artisans to handcraft. The color palette for the collection featured warm shades of pink, red, gold, and bronze all displayed nicely in a summer pop-up at Maiyet’s showroom in SoHo (see images below).
“We wanted to collaborate with the Mola Sasa artisans to create something beautiful together and continue supporting the Colombian culture and its heritage.”
-Paul van Zyl, CEO and Co-Founder of Maiyet
Given the immediate success of the Maiyet x Mola Sasa collaboration, the clutches and bangles quickly sold out which prompted the design of a second round of clutches to be produced with all new designs and ornate fabrics. Again for summer, the encore collection featured cool metallics, blues and fun patterns all on delicate, sustainable textiles.
